ECOBANK BIG GAL, NIKE KOLAWOLE IN DEBT MESS
After the heavy shopping for the last yuletide season, Ecobank Area Manager (Ikeja), Lagos Nike Kolawole is presently swimming in huge debt and being chases after by her creditor.
Impeccable sources alleged that Nike, who started her shopping since November at places like Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Oguchi in Japan and many sophisticated places in Nigeria in preparation for celebrating last Christmas and New Year acquired goods worth millions of naira.
It was alleged that among the things she bought in Nigeria includes 10 female gold wrist watches that goes for nothing less than N85, 000 each from a friend, simply call madam Beatrice who runs a gift/boutique shop in Opebi axis of ikeja. She was also said to have travelled with this her friend who happens to be a customer of Ecobank to both Dubai and Japan on shopping but ran out of money after spending millions of naira.
Those in the known revealed that after spending so much and ran out of cash in her travelling, Nike Kolawole requested for loan from Madam Beatrice which she promised to pay back immediately they get to Nigeria. Madam Beatrice according to our sources knowing Nike’s status gave the loan without thinking about it twice but told her that she would need the money before 31st of December 2011.
It was gathered that the two friends arrived in the country four days before the new year. While Madam Beatrice was expecting the payment of her loan, Nike allegedly went to her shop the next day to collect five more wristwatches and gave the woman a cheque dated 30th of December as payment for the entire outstanding loan.
According to those close to Madam Beatrice, she got a call on her way to the bank on December 30th from Nike asking Beatrice to send her bank account detail that she will transfer the money into her account before close of work that day instead of her going through the banking stress.
It was gathered that Madam Beatrice called Nike endlessly that day before the close of work, but she didn’t pick her calls. Days after that, it was gathered Madam Beatrice made many efforts to speak and see Nike about her indebtedness, but all to no avail as her phone numbers were switched off.
Immediately after the New Year, Madam Beatrice stormed the bank at the first day of work with the cheque but the bank told her the attention of the account holder is required before the cheque can be honored.
“My Madam left the bank angrily and promised to disgrace Nike whenever she set her eyes on her. She’s been calling Madam Nike and she not picking and at a point her number is switched off” one of Madam Beatrice shop assistance revealed.
The whole story took a new dimension immediately the Nigeria Labour congress (NLC) called off the Nation wide strike when Madam Beatrice first thing on Tuesday morning stormed the Ilupeju branch of Ecobank, Nike Kolawole’s office. It was gathered that it was a show of shame as Madam Beatrice publicly embarrassed Nike at the bank premises and insisted that she wont leave the place until she collect her money which is alleged to be a little above a million naira.
The situation was not settled until Madam Beatrice insisted to go with Nike’s car, a Kia Seoul until she can provide her money.
